Letter dated January 1970 from Fran to her niece: "Many thanks for the lovely card. Hope you all had a real nice Christmas and a very Happy New Year in 70. We were all at Marge's place for Christmas this year. Since Frank died each year one of the children have Christmas at their place as they all have nice homes and I only have a small apt. as Ray and I don't need so much room and I just can't do the work I used to do now that I'm in the 70s. My hands and knees kick up with arthritis. I see you have 7 children now. Shirley has 6. Her baby will be two years old on Jan. 25th. She sure would love hearing from you as she is quite a way from home. George also moved to Kansas and he has a baby son last April. He was here for Thanksgiving this year, but the stay was only a week. Butch moved again. I  got my card with a new address. I haven't heard from Bunky in quite a while. I get a card from all but him, even Larry. I'll be you had quite a Christmas at your place. It's nice knowing how to drive. I sure wish I had learned--it wouldn't be so lonesome. Write when you can. Happy New Year, Aunt Frances." (Bunky and Larry are her nephews. Butch may be a reference to her nephew Edward's daughter Rose, nicknamed Butch.)
